All MLYH coaches are USA Hockey Certified. This means they have completed hours of online training, undergone background checks, and have attended in-person coaching sessions. MLYH adheres to the American Development Model, which stresses small-area games and drills to maximize the number of touches each child receives each practice session.

INTERESTED IN COACHING?
Below are the steps involved in becoming a USA Hockey-certified coach for MLYH.
MLYH will cover all certification costs. Please contact the board for details.
- Register as a member of USA Hockey and CAHA.
Cost is $53 (includes USA Hockey and CAHA)

- Complete the background screening
Cost is $25
Select “Applicant Submission and Status Check, and use CAHA’s Self Registration Number: 35615801.

- Complete the USA Hockey Safe Sport Training
Required every two years and cannot be added to a roster until completed.

- Complete the online age-specific module(s) for the age level of play you are coaching.
Cost is $10 per module and only needs to be completed once per age level. Must be completed PRIOR to participating in any team activities and cannot be added to a roster until completed.
